Is Shane Carwin's return a positive?
by Grimm » Mon May 28, 2012 2:52 pm
For me the Heavyweight division has potential. Something it has Never had since the diviison has started. From Interm title holders and the guys who just walked away while still holding the belt, the momentum hasn't been there. Is it the 60 pound difference between making weight at 205 and making weight at 265? That might be marked as a maybe. Well to me the best guys at Heavyweight aren't maxing out to the 265 limit. As of recent Shane Carwin hasn't been as bulky and though coming off surgery, I believe he can make a comeback run. Is he the welcomed addition back to the ranks? I hope so.

well grimm as you know the HW division is my specialty and my fav division in all of mma.Now let me be frank the 60 pound weight thing is a big factor cuz well if your a natural weight of around 245 or so you dont have to train to full potential and can easily make weight drinkin milkshakes and eatin burgers lol.
The heavyweight division has the most sparkle it has had since the prime of pride but it is going to be the way the ufc continues to sign that will make the difference as wel as fair match ups and title shots.

i mean honestly frank mir didnt deserve a title shot and it showed lmao.
Also my biggest beef is why the fuck did bigfoot silva get a number one contender fight with velasquez??? answer is simple to build up cain for a rematch with jds fucking bullshit.
say whatever you want call me a conspiracy theorist i dont care facts are UFC hands out title shots to who they WANT not who DESERVES it.
Ok this is coming from a guy who is a huge bigfoot silva fan hell i voted for silva in the fight but at no time did i think he stood a chance.
Silva debuts in the ufc against a top ten hell top 5 hw???Everyone else that came from strikeforce got decent realistic fights if anyone aside from overeem lol that would be in line for a shot in my eyes would be werdum over silva just as common opponents werdum beat everyon silva has including silva,The ufc just thought oh well werdum got ko'd by jds last time so well just go with the highest ppv moneymaker with a jds cain rematch after cain destroys an obviously overmatched silva.
Jds ko werdum yes but this was also before anyone knew who the hell jds was werdum admitted he didnt even really work his stand up game for the fight as there was virtually no info on him lol.Whether or not werdum would be better in a fight is debatable but it is OBVIOUSLY the more fair thing to do .
as much as bellator has had some bs judging(ufc has had more then its fair share}it atleast stands behind its motto FIGHTERS EARN SHOTS THEY ARE NOT GIVEN! meaning no matter if the same dude makes it to the tourney finals and no one wants to see that fight they will still make it happen if dude wins his way there.Afterall mma is supposed to be a SPORT right so put aside your wrestlemania money thought process and treat it like a fucking sport and make it fair!
Quote me on this if you want "THE UFC WILL NEVER POST ITS RANKING ON ITS OWN WEBSITE FOR PEOPLE TO SEE ,BECAUSE THEN YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE HOW MUCH THE MATCMAKERS RUN THE SHOW AND HOW PEOPLE ARE ACCELLED THROUGH RANKINGS PAST OTHERS JUST DUE TO HYPE AND MONEY MAKING POSSIBILITIES."
Any other sport you can go to the home page and look up and see during the season where each team is ranked .why is it in the so called sport of mma the rankings are completely arbitrary as it is really seen differently from website to website. There is a general consensus on who is ranked what but there isn't a solid black and white website you can look up worldwide rankings and until that day MMa in my eyes won't be a true sport.

To get to the original point of this blog Shane carwin is and always has been overhyped and overmatched in the ufc.Since the time he has been out he has lost some unnecassary weight but he also faces about 7 or 8 new guys who can match or beat him.Shane made his rise on ko's over nobodys and then in the ufc he won some fights but especially in the gonzaga fight u could see he doesnt have head movement or footwork he throws and is willing to take punches to give his not a good startegy stipe miocic would hand him his chin.
All in all carwin may win a fight or 2 but i see him losing and eventually out to the smaller leagues perhaps xfc or bellator would be a good fit.

A little while back when I heard Daniel Cormier wanted to face Carwin I wondered did Cormier just want in the UFC or was he legit? I still think Carwin can make an impact in the UFC just not in a contender form.
