StrikeForce: No Bonus No Finishes?

Postby Grimm » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:33 pm

So the results of a very good night of action for StrikeForce was one finish and several decisions. The best case scenerio was a fights that showed that StrikeForce had just as much talent as the UFC. On a card that featured a member of the Gracie family along side top strikers, the odds were a few highlight reel finishes were in the makings. The thing about even the fights that happen on the TUF series are they feature a incentive in the form of a bonus for a top finish. We have seen Zuffa hand out a bonus at events for; Fight of the Night, Submission of the Night and Knockout of the Night. The generosity doesn't make its way down to the StrikeForce brand. Is their a relationship between a event that had one finish and the lack of a incentive to finish? Fighters not taking risks is not exactly true of the situation but it has a little base, some fighters do just enough to win. I can't blame StrikeForce for the lack of finishes. The card was Striker vs. Grappler, Striker vs. Striker, UFC contender vs. undefeated fighter and products from two top teams fighting for the Middleweight title. I don't believe Zuffa will do a experimental bonus for the top finishes any time soon but with fighters tied to the Showtime deal, it wouldn't hurt to try. It just might turn things around.
