Frank Mir to challenge Daniel Cormier

Postby Grimm » Thu Jul 26, 2012 12:16 am

So just when you thought that StrikeForce was a sinking ship, the news that just hit is Frank Mir is willing to face Daniel Cormier on September 29 on Showtime. Coming off a loss for the title and pretty much doing more than most fighters do in their career, Frank Mir is set to make a few fans who pay for Showtime,Happy! Daniel Cormier is the winner by default of the failed StrikeForce Heavyweight Grand Prix. With nothing more to really offer the fighters that are obligated to honor their contracts with Showtime, the options are limited of what the next move is for those involved. With the money to buy the outstanding contracts but the unwillness to do so the UFC has talented fighters stuck in limbo so to speak. I was surprised that such a fight is in the process of happening. True it's not the greatest fight to be book by any means but it is something. A life line to StrikeForce and Showtime with a chance to be included in the bigger rating numbers, hopefully. Frank Mir is a top Heavyweight that has had his ups and downs in the octagon but has achievements that no one can dublicate ever. Only man to submit Big Nog and first to KO him. Outside the octagon he has beat the odds by returning to the UFC after an accident nearly kept him from ever walking again let alone fighting. Daniel Cormier is a solid wrestler who has good striking and i see him coming right after Mir, this is a fight in his house(StrikeForce). Hopefully this move by Mir will inspire more UFC fighters to crossover and make things a little bit more interesting for the StrikeForce brand.
