Bones Jones owns wins over all 4 fighters on the Fox card

Postby Grimm » Sun Jul 29, 2012 3:22 pm

The fight card for this Saturday on Fox is solid from the top to the bottom. The best part besides being almost a guaranteed action packed event is the fact it is free. The lackluster UFC 149 event is history now and the best way to move forward is to have a high quality event. Lyoto Machida facing Ryan Bader is added to Shogun Rua facing Brandon Vera to form a solid night of action. With a win each fighter moves forward in their hopes of being the number one contender and challenge for the belt. With Shogun and Machida being former champions and Bader being a TUF season winner, the pedigree for this event is clear cut high quality. Now for the bad news. With a win the step closer to a title shot leads to not only a five round war but its against a fighter that already owns a victory over each fighter. Jon Jones is a champion by all means, there wasn't an easy route to the belt or even defending it. The best outcome of this event is a matching of the winners. With Jones facing Dan Henderson soon, there is a break between the title fight and the next fight somewhere down the line. So going into a real meeting of talent and high expectations we can only hope that the best fighters win and we avoid the controversy associated with fights that go to the scorecards.
