The writing seemed to be on the wall already, most people felt that when Nate Marquardt ended his contract with BAMMA, that he was going to end up in either Strikeforce or back in the UFC, Bellator is was unlikely because he hasn't fought in so long, coupled with the fact that the Bellator's tournament format would likely mean more waiting.
According to "UFC Tonight" TV show, they announced that Marquardt had signed with Strikeforce.
Marquardt was released from the UFC after failing a pre-fight drug test, one that forced him off the card literally the day before the fight, of course and embarrassed and severely ticked off Dana White dismissed him on the spot for his un-professionalism.
Marquardt later signed with the British promosyion BAMMA, but was unable to get a fight booked in a fair amount of time, forcing Marquardt to search for work elsewhere.
Marquardt definitely will add some more depth the Strikeforce's welterweight division.
Rumors of Marquardt being matched up with Tyron Woodley for his first bout at a yet to be named event in May or June.
