Derek Brunson has not been medically cleared to fight on the upcoming Strikeforce Columbus card, Brunson has vacated his spot against Ronaldo "Jacare" Sousa leaving the ex middleweight champ without an opponent.
Strikeforce will keep Souza on the card and are actively searching for a new opponent.
Current Super Cage Combat middleweight champ Bristol Marunde who has just signed with Strikeforce, carries an impressive 9-1 record in his last ten fights into the Strikeforce cage agsinst Souza.
Brunson took to twitter to clear up any confusion as to why he was forced to back out of the fight, saying that the only reason he failed Ohio’s medical requirements was due to his eye examination, stating it’s never been an issue for him before:
“Ok here’s the deal…I’ve been fighting with contacts for 11 fights (9pro,2ams) never was an issue. Ohio won’t pass my eye exam.”
UPDATE:
Current Super Cage Combat middleweight champion Bristol Marunde who has signed with Strikeforce carries an impressive 9-1 record in his last ten fights into the Strikeforce cage agsinst Souza.
