The hot rumor of the day yesterday was the possibility of Frank Mir stepping in to replace Alistair Overeem at UFC 146 since the Dutch striker failed his drug test last week with a 14:1 testosterone to Epitestosterone level. According to Dana White, the UFC president says that Frank Mir will definitely be fighting Velasquez, and will not replace Overeem in the main event against Junior Dos Santos.
When White was asked by a fan not to break up the original Mir vs. Velasquez fight, White replied via twitter:
Luckily for the UFC they still have a good amount of time to find a replacement, but can they find an opponent that would make the main event as exciting as Dos Santos vs. Overeem would have been? I may sound nuts here, But would White and company even consider signing Fedor to take the spot? There just doesn't seem to be much out there that would be as interesting.
What do you all think? Who should replace Overeem?
