The highly anticipated rematch between dominant UFC middleweight champion and p4p kingpin Anderson Silva and his rival top middleweight contender Chael Sonnen was expected to take place in Silva's home country of Brazil in what was expected to be one of the UFC's biggest events to date. It appears that the rematch may be forced to take place in Las Vegas instead although nothing is official.
“This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations." Blackhouse teammate Jorge Guimaraes told Tatame Magazine "What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN’s event, Rio+20. (Silva vs. Sonnen’s venue and date) will be announced by Dana White in a press conference in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed yet.”
UFC president Dana White along with both Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will hold a press conference in Brazil on the 24th where we will likely find out whether of not the big rematch will be taking place in Brazil or in Las Vegas. Although it is all speculation at this point you would think if they are holding a press conference in Brazil with the two men expected to be on the main event than the fight will take place in Brazil as planned.
