Dan Henderson has been waiting along time for his next fight, and now he's got it, although it is still a ways off. Henderson decided he wanted to wait for a title shot rather than take another fight to stay busy. Now Dan Henderson finally has his coveted title fight.
UFC officials confirmed the Jones vs. Henderson match up today, although there is no date or event attached to the fight as of yet.
Henderson is an interesting match up, purely for the amount of punishment he can take, which will make it very difficult for Jones to put him down. And along with Henderson's wrestling skills and his power, he will definitely be a stiff test for the champ. What makes this more interesteing is Both Henderson's and Jones' use of roman greco clinches and grappling in MMA, which may end up cancelling out each others grappling game and force it to remain standing. Henderson's right hand aside, it could make the fight very difficult for Henderson with Jones' reach.
Henderson last fought a long and sloppy fight against ex-light heavyweight champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, the fight was touted as one of the best fights of 2011. Although not the most technically sound fight, it was still a great display of heart and determination by both fighters. Henderson won the fight, however many fans and media had felt the the fight was won by Rua.
