Top undefeated heavyweight prospect Daniel Cormier (8-0) is expected to be facing top ten Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio Silva (16-2) in the Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix after Alistair Overeem was cut from the tournament after his refusal to fight in Semptember.
Daniel Cormier recently picked up the biggest win of his young career defeating MMA legend Jeff Monson by unanimous decision at Strikeforce 49. Now Cormier will be looking to fallow that up by getting a win in the Strikeforce Grand Prix and prove himself as a top heavyweight in the world.
Antonio Silva is currently on a three fight winning streak recently picking up the biggest win of his career over Fedor Emelianenko. Although he is fustraded over the change of opponent Antionio Silva says he doesn't care who he fights next as he looks to win the Grand Prix and prove his worth.
“I don’t care who they put against me." Antonio stated of the current change. "If Overeem doesn’t want to fight because his toe is hurt, then get me King Kong. Get Josh Barnett and Sergei Kharitonov both. I’ll fight them both at the same time. I’m very frustrated and disappointed"
It will be interesting to see as this new match up will be completely different from what was expected. Cormier is a multiple time amature wrestling champion and has been improving with every fight and Antionio Silva is a BJJ specialist with a black belt in Judo, BJJ, and Karate.
