Ryan-Jimmo-MFC-31

Canadian Light Heavyweight Prospect Ryan Jimmo will finally make his debut for the UFC, Jimmo was originally set to fight Karlos Vemola on January 20, 2012 at UFC on FX 1, but due to an injury , Jimmo was forced to postpone his UFC debut. Jimmo is now lined up to fight resurgent Australian fighter Anthony Perosh in his home province of Alberta, the crowd will likely be very much on his side when he steps into the cage.

The match-up was announced via Canadian Sports channel and website sportsnet.ca.

Jimmo arrives into the UFC as a highly regarded Light Heavyweight prospect, boasting a very respectable 16-1 record and currently cruising on a 16 fight win streak. Jimmo’s only loss came in his first pro bout. Since then he’s been pretty much unstoppable. Jimmo spent most of Hs career in Canada’s Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC), pretty much cleaning out their LHW division, Jimmo currently holds their light heavyweight belt and has successfully defended it two times, most recently in October at MFC 31 where he beat UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via unanimous decision.

Perosh has fought for the UFC 4 times, He lost his first fight as a last minute replacement against Mirko “Cro-Cop”Filipović at UFC 110 back in 2010. Since Perosh’s lost to Cro-Cop, he decided to drop back down to Light Heavyweight, since the drop he has strung together 3 straight wins, beating Tom BlackledgeCyrille Diabaté and most recently in March, Nick Penner at UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann in Sydney Australia.  Perosh has finished all of his opponents in his current 3 fight win streak.
