More injuries that have forced many changes to a few upcoming UFC cards, and UFC on FX 4 is one of them, the card, an injury has forced yet another change to yet another fight card.
Rich Attonito has sustained an undisclosed injury that will prevent him from fighting Rick Story on the preliminary card at UFC on FX 4. The UFC also announced Attonito’s replacement, and that will be Swedish fighter Papyi Abedi.
Will the 3rd time be a charm for Abedi? after entering the UFC undefeated, he has now lost his last 2 fights, most recently losing to James Head at UFC on FUEL TV in Stockholm Sweden. Abedi started the fight strong but got into a little trouble towards the end of the 1st round and was taken down and submitted by Head. Losing this fight against Story would likely mean the end to his current stint in the UFC after arriving with much fanfare.
Story situation isn’t much better, he too has lost 2 in a row after exploding onto the welterweight scene, after losing his octagon debut to John Hathaway, Story went on a tear, ripping through the welterweight division on a 6 fight win streak, and taking out notable fighters like, Brian Foster, Dustin Hazelett, Johny Hendricks and Thiago Alves before losing to Charlie Brenneman and Martin Kampmann successively. A 3rd loss in a row for Story likely won’t mean he would lose his job yet, but it won’t help, his 6 fight winning streak will buy him some time, but likely a 4th loss in a row would seal his fate.
