It has just been confirmed by the UFC, Vitor Belfort has broken his hand and will be unable to fight Wanderlei Silva in the main event at UFC 147.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the news shortly after UFC 146 concluded. Belfort Broke his hand in training and has undergone surgery Saturday morning to repair it. Its a tough blow for the UFC as it will be hard to find a main event worthy opponent in time for the event in Belo Horizonte Brazil on June 23rd.
Is Lesnar coming out of retirment?
In an unexpected appearance, ex-heavyweight champion and now Pro wrestler Brock Lesnar was spotted octagon side at UFC 146, and at the post fight press conference White would not deny that Lesnar's appearance may mean he is returning to MMA.
Interestingly Yahoo! reporter Kevin Iole tweeted that White verified the possibility of Lesnar's return:
