After going under the knife to have his torn ACL surgically repaired, it looked as if MMA fans would miss out on seeing Georges St. Pierre defend his UFC Welterweight Championship in 2012. However, the outlook on GSP's recovery looks much more promising now and the welterweight king says his rehab process has been excellent and that he has his eye on returning to action on November 17 at UFC 154.
As one of the best ambassadors of the sport and always in good spirits, GSP has been making his rounds recently, attending multiple events for his sponsors, as well as, UFC events while currently undergoing the last phase in his knee rehabilitation. The UFC Champ expressed his hopes at making a November return to the octagon in Montreal to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani a few days ago.
"I feel good. In a month and a half I'll be back to training at 100% and it's great to be back. Absolutely I'm looking for a November return if possible... I want to fight. My knee is good. I've been keeping busy but I'm ready for alot of training, alot of gymnastics."
If GSP is able to continue on his fast path to full recovery and the UFC books him for a title defense in November, "The Natural Born Killer" Carlos Condit will be waiting as his next challenger. Condit was awarded an interim title in the aftermath of GSP's injury and after his close and controversial decision victory over Nick Diaz at UFC 143 in February. When GSP and Condit finally face off inside the octagon, it will be to determine who is the true and undisputed best welterweight mixed martial artist in the world.
Although nothing is official as of yet, UFC 154 is expected to go down on November 17 LIVE from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and on that night, Georges St. Pierre is expecting to be there defending his title on his home turf yet again.
