Shane Carwin Announces He's Ready to Return to the UFC's Octagon in "Early Fall" 2012

Two fighters many of us have been wondering “what ever happened to??”, for me it was Mike Swick and Shane Carwin, and it seemed at almost the very moment I wondered out loud to a colleague about these two fighters, Mike Swick Gets booked for his return to the Octagon against DeMarques Johnson. Now word comes straight from Shane Carwin Himself that he has been cleared by his doctors to resume full contact training again.

Carwin dropped out of action On October 16, 2011 when he revealed that he would require back surgery, which would sideline him until Mid-2012.

And right on schedule Carwin has announced via twitter that his doctor’s have cleared him for full contact training once again, Carwin has also notified the UFC’s match-maker Joe Silva that he would like to have his first fight in the early fall of this year (2012).

On a blog post on Carwin’s website he stated:

“No one ever “wants” or “needs” back surgery but I did “need” the time to improve my skills. Being a good wrestler with heavy hands is only a fraction of skills needed to become a World Champion. I am certain when I come back you will see a more diverse and hungry fighter. I will not be worried about my extra pounds causing cardio problems, and I will not stumble on the way up this mountain top. You are going to see the Old Shane with new and improved skills fighting because its what I love to do. “

“I informed UFC Matchmaker (Joe Silva) that I would like to fight in Early Fall 2012. I would like to be able to fight every three or four months. Barring injury I intend to leave the UFC octagon and head back to the Grudge Training Center to continue the climb. I have spent my entire career dealing with injuries sustained through Football. I am 100% and I feel like a younger version of my former self. The UFC should look into adding some padding in the gloves because I plan on crushing my opponents. “

If Carwin does indeed return to the octagon a much more complete fighter, then he just adds to the UFC’s log jam of contenders in their stacked Heavyweight division.
