So here we go again, another injury has forced yet another fight card change to UFC on FOX 4, this time around a preliminary card bout between Josh Grispi and Pablo Garza has been changed due to Garza suffering an injury in training.
Grispi will now take on fellow BJJ practitioner Rani Yahya at what seems to be a cursed UFC on FOX 4 card coming up in August.
Yahya who’s 16-7 is a no doubt about Jiu Jitsu ace, he has won the ADCC IN 2007 and placed 2nd in 2005, and of his 16 wins, 14 have come via submission. Yahya will look to turn things around in this fight, as he’s been fairly unsuccessful in his last 4 fights, sporting a sub-par 1-3 record. Although his last win was against ex WEC champ Mike Brown, his 3 losses came at the hands of the divisions elite, Joseph Benevidez, Takeya Mizugaki and in his last fight, he lost to Chad Mendes at UFC 133 back in August. All of those 3 fighters have recently contended for the title. So there’s nothing to hang your head about there.
After going 14-1 and winning going 4-0 in the WEC, Grispi also looks to turn things around after losing his last 2 fights against Dustin Poirier and most recently to George Roop at the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale back in June of 2011. Grispi has also done well on the Submission front, although he doesn’t carry a BJJ belt of any kind, he’s submitted 7 opponents out of his 14 wins. Not too shabby. With Yahya’s BJJ prowess, it’s likely Grispi will try to keep this fight standing.
So there it is fight fan’s, let’s hope this is the last injury we have to report for UFC on FOX 4. UFC on FOX 4 is scheduled for August 4, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
