During the UFC on FX 3 press conference the other day, the UFC president claimed that the UFC has targeted UFC 152 on September 22, 2012 as the day the two heavyweight will clash. But According to Junior Dos Santos coach, the fight will likely take place in November because Velasquez is injured.
According to JDS coach Yuri Carlton who claimed during an interview with Tatame (translated by Fighters Only), Carlton claimed that both fighters would not be ready by September, especially considering Velasquez's broken hand:
"The fight is with Velasquez, but no definite date. It was speculated for September, but that is unreal. Velasquez is also with a broken hand, it’s not resolved, so I think the UFC will wait a little longer." Carlton Said.
Even though Velasquez’s camp has yet to confirm the broken hand, the NSAC levied a 6 month suspension on the former champ because doctor’s suspected his had was broken during his fight against Antonio Silva at UFC 146.
So if this fight Moves to November, it’ll likely land on the UFC 154 card in Montreal, the same event that Georges St. Pierre is expected to return and face Carlos Condit in a welterweight title fight.
