It appears that India’s Super Fight League has booked their next main event, booking two Ex-UFC heavyweights Todd Duffee and Jeff Monson for SFL 4 on Sept. 8, 2012 in Bangalore, India.
The match-up was revealed via Super Fight League’s twitter account.
Duffee who was once regarded as a top heavyweight prospect in the UFC before losing in dramatic fashion to a very overweight and out of shape Mike Russow, the loss and some behind the scenes issues forced his release from the world’s largest and most popular MMA promotion.
Since his departure from the UFC, Duffee hasn’t fared so well, losing his first fight outside of the UFC to Alistair Overeem at a DREAM New Year’s event in 2010, it would be close to 2 years before he’d fight again, Stepping in to the cage against Neil Grove at SFL 2 back in April, beating grove via TKO (punches) in only 34 seconds. It was Duffee’s first win since 2009. He’s now looking to put a win streak together against Monson.
Monson has been very active lately, fighting 4 times already in 2012, and 6 times in 2011, he is undefeated since losing by unanimous decision to Fedor Emelianenko back in November 2011. In fact Monson has only lost twice in his last 15 fights and has 1 draw. Monson who is an ex-ADCC champion and UFC veteran will take on the very large and heavy hitting Duffee in his fifth fight of this year.
