Michael Bisping must really love the sound of his own voice, for a guy who I’ll readily admit is a very good fighter, he is also the worst spokesperson for himself and the sport of MMA. His self important style of talking to the media has always made him one of the most disliked people in MMA. Bisping has now elevated his status of being MMA’s most disliked and dis-respected fighters by putting down and disrespecting an entire division of MMA fighters.
The only reason one can see for his bizzare statment against the flyweights is that he is sinpmly jealous that they get the main event status and he doesn't, after all he must believe he's more relevant and worth watching than anyone else in any division.
The Thing about Bisping as he also is quite aware of his douchbaggery and he for whatever odd reason somewhat embraces it, maybe he feels that he gets more attention this way, and it keeps him relevant and in the media, but what he misses, is the fact that people don’t want him to talk because they know he’ll have something smart and profound to say. Or something outrageous like Mr. Sonnen. It’s more to see what they can dig out of him, to see what stupid thing he’s going to rant about next, and how he’s going to stick his foot in his mouth this time. And this time around he placres both of his feet firmly in his mouth by completely insulting ALL the fighters in the UFC's flyweight division. Because, according to Bisping, he feels his fight in more important and more relevant than a wee little flyweight title fight, yet more of his self important attitude right there.
On Fuel TV on Saturday Night Bisping once again reminded the fans and media of what a respectful of person he is:
“In my opinion, and I think in most people’s, this is the main event. This is the real main event. Two big hard hitting guys. No one cares about little flyweights, this is the real main event, this is the real big fight, tune in cause someone’s getting knocked out, ain’t going to be me though.”
Wow, “who cares about the little flyweights” ? wow..., douchebaggery at its finest right there folks. These guys are athletes and fighters just like Bisping, just because he’s heavier doesn’t make his fight any better or more relevant, Bisping is coming off a loss, and is pretty much at the bottom of the contender ladder, and that’s not going to change regardless of how much he barks about how relevant he thinks is and how much “he” thinks he deserves a title shot.
Bottom line is, we all know the little guys ALWAYS put on the best fights in the UFC. A level of Consistency that is unmatched in any of the other UFC divisions, including Bisping’s Middelweight division.
