With the news last Saturday at UFC on FOX 4 that Rory MacDonald had suffered a severe cut above his right eye that required 3 layers of stitches, 38 in total, which of course left him unable to train for his bout against BJ Penn, the fight seemed to be off or at least postponed. MacDonald’s team wanted to re-book the fight for UFC 154 in Montreal in November, But Penn’s team was looking for it to take place sooner, possibly at UFC 153 in Rio.
On last night’s episode of “UFC Uncensored” Nate Quarry was talking about Jon Fitch calling Penn a coward and wanting a rematch now that MacDonald was injured.
“Fitch calling B.J. a "coward" is just Fitch trying to get the attention. Fitch trying to hype himself into another big fight, because the Rory MacDonald fight got postponed. And we have it on good authority, my insider has told me, that that fight has been set for the Fox card in December. So we're gonna get that fight.”
With Penn wanting to fight sooner, I’m having a hard time believing that the UFC will make both Penn and McDonald wait until December to fight as 5 months is quite a long time to wait. It wouldn't be too surprising if the UFC sets this fight up for Brazil in October instead.
