It appears that Georges St. Pierre is very interested in the long discussed Mega-fight between himself and Middleweight King of the Mountain Anderson Silva. Farias Zahabi Gsp’s trainer has confirmed the welterweight champs interest in the Mega-fight.
With GSP currently training to fight interim champion Carlos Condit at UFC 154 in Montreal in November, may mean the Mega-fight may take a while to put together, the fight also hinges on GSP’s performance against Condit. According to both Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White, the fight is definitely something they are considering, but both expressed that GSP will need to beat Condit first before they will consider putting that fight together.
In an interview with Mauro Ranallo on The MMA Show Zahabi confirms GSP’s interest in the match up.
"Georges St-Pierre told me he wants [to fight Anderson Silva], But right now he has to get back on the horse and fight Carlos Condit and be Champion again. He needs to keep focused."
"If the Silva fight happens, ideally I'd like a catch weight. I think it'd be more fair. If you fight at a catch weight, Silva won't be 20 pounds heavier. 177 or 178 pounds is much more fair." Zahabi said
This fight has been talked about for years, but most of us fans had resigned to the fact that the possible match-up was more of a myth than a true possibility. Now it’s actually getting serious consideration, If GSP beats Condit, then quite possibly the biggest fight in UFC history is about to be booked.
