A truly entertaining UFC on FUEL TV 8 preliminary card where we witnessed a 5 fight preliminary card that was streamed live on Facebook. Below we have some quick fight breakdowns of each fight including the preliminary card results summary.
Marcelo Guimaraes vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
Marcelo Guimaraes brought his undefeated record into the octagon in Japan tonight, showing some gameness for the larger Hyun Gyu Lim, but telegraphed his take downs for most of the fight which Lim easily defended, Lim gets taken down at the end of the fist with a poorly thought out flying knee attempt. In the scrappier second round the two exchanged fairly evenly until Lim connects with a knee to Guimaraes' face, KO'ing the Brazilian and handing him his first professional loss.
Alex Caceres vs. Kyung Ho Kang
In another scrappy fight, Alex Caceres showed his continued maturation and evolution as a fighter in this bout vs. highly touted Kyung Ho Kang, Kang for the most part controlled Caceres with his wrestling for the first two round, but in the third it was all Caceres, who grounded dominated Kang for the entire round, in what looked to be a victory for Kang, the judges decided otherwise, giving Caceres the razor thin split decision victory.
Cristiano Marcello vs. Kazuki Tokudome
Some more good action going on in this fight in what has turned out so far to be an entertaining preliminary card. The BJJ blackbelt Marcello just couldn't get it done tonight, showing his usual toughness but was just completely controlled by Kazuki Tokudome who cruised to a very decisive unanimous decision victory.
Bryan Caraway vs. Takeya Mizugaki
These two bantamweights put on a highly entertaining bout with the two exchanging heavy punches and leg kicks for 3 full rounds grinding it out in a back and forth fight, Caraway almost choked out Mizugaki midway through the 2nd but he was able to stay calm and work his way out of a very, very tight guillotine. Mizugaki sneaks away with the split decision victory.
Riki Fukuda vs. Brad Tavares
Fukuda showed some improved game tonight, fighting with more urgency. Both Tavares and Fukuda fought in another back and forth and very even fight for 3 rounds where no one really established themselves as the dominant fighter. Both took it to each other in the 3rd round with Fukuda looking like he had the edge by staying busier but not really making any damage on Tavares. Even so Fukuda loses to Tavares by unanimous decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
