After being being told that the only way to fight on the UFC 139 card in San Jose, Josh Koscheck has come to a decision about his future in the welterweight division.
Likely motivated to move up due to the fact that he can no longer avoind fighting his good friend and training partner, Jon Fitch, Fitch arguably the constant #2 in the UFC's welterweight division, also wants nothing to do with fighting Koscheck.
Considering Fitch is ranked higher, Koscheck is the obvious one that has to move up or down.
At the UFC Fan Expo in Houston on Friday, Koscheck was quoted by mmajunie.com discussing this situation.
Koscheck told MMAjunkie.com during this weekend's UFC Fan Expo Houston 2011:
"I'm a money fighter, I want big fights."
"I'm 33 (years old). I've been fighting for a long time now. I just want big fights. I'll fight anybody at 185 or 170. I don't care. I just want big fights, big names."
In fact, Koscheck was playing around with moving up already just before he got the call to fight Matt Hughes. Prior to his fight with Hughes, in the early stages of Koscheck's recovery, with numbing in his face after the surgery long after the breakage, he was actually fearing he may never recieve the doctor's clearance to fight again.
"There were some concerns, definitely, When you have the type of injury that I had, there's obviously concerns. You have to pass the medicals." Koscheck said.
When asked about his move to 185, koschek also said this:
"If somebody at 185 wants to call me out, let's do it" Koscheck said.
